The challenge

Georg Fischer Ltd. (GF) employs more than 15,000 people (as of 2021) in 34 countries and 139 companies, 61 of which are production sites. In 220 years of company history, countless engineers, economists, and skilled workers have left their mark on the industrial corporation headquartered in Schaffhausen (Switzerland) and ensured that the corporation remains globally competitive - thanks to technological innovation and responsible, entrepreneurial action.

To continue its success story, Georg Fischer Ltd. relies on young talents and experienced professionals who share the company's values, vision, and purpose (Becoming better every day - since 1802). That is why, in late summer 2021, the decision was taken to fundamentally overhaul the existing job portal on the corporate website (www.georgfischer.com) and, in particular, to modernize the job postings and other measures. The focus was on the following objectives:

  • To position GF as a modern and innovative employer.
  • To make the prevailing spirit of optimism tangible and visible.
  • To emotionalize the text-heavy job ads stylishly and supplement them with interactive elements.
  • To make it significantly easier to find all globally advertised vacancies.
  • To ensure the connection of online applications to the Umantis recruiting system.
  • Ensure the application of the applicable CI/CD guidelines.
  • To handle the publication process without media discontinuity with solique recruiter (already in use).


The solution

In several workshops, solique worked out the requirements for the new job portal in close cooperation with HR employees of GF and defined the new structure and design. Based on our many years of international "best practice" experience, the project team quickly agreed on target-oriented "dos and don'ts". Based on this, we developed the first frameworks, which we finally implemented iteratively. Thanks to the modular architecture of our multiposting application solique recruiter, dynamic search, filter, and selection functions (in the web frontend), as well as the connection to the ATS system of umantis (in the web backend), could be realized quickly and without technical frictions.

The new job portal finally went live in February 2022. Today, it presents itself with a dominant, emotional visual language, with less text but with video messages on corporate philosophy and socially relevant topics. Additionally, there are interactive elements in the area of fringe benefits and contemporary functions, such as the integration of Google Maps to calculate the route to work, taking into account different means of transport.
